PathXL® Visiopharm Image Analysis

The integrated system

PathXL® Visiopharm Image Analysis is a unique integrated system developed by two leading global software companies, PathXL and Visiopharm.

PathXL Ltd specialises in developing web-based software for digital pathology and Visiopharm is a leading provider of advanced image analysis and stereology capabilities.

The integration between Visiopharm technologies and the PathXL system, PathXL® Manager, is an important step towards an optimal digital pathology workflow.

With integration to PathXL® Image Analysis, users can select images for analysis directly from PathXL and subsequently choose the analysis method in the Visiopharm software.

PathXL® Manager

PathXL® Manager is the specially designed image management system for on-line hosting, management and serving of digital slides for virtual microscopy in education, research and clinical practice.

This cloud based system enables slides to be viewed and managed from anywhere in the world, at any time by multiple users.

PathXL® Manager can be used to manually score tissue samples and tissue microarrays, create research networks, as well as archive and share slides.

Visiopharm software: Tissuemorph

TissuemorphDP™ provides a highly specialized tool facilitating key aspects of working with quantitative image analysis for cell population characterization.

The interface allows the users to control detection through simple manual control of sensitivity (positive and negative nuclei, and membrane), and size (positive/negative nuclei and cytoplasm). For nuclei it is possible to create different levels of positivity using the manual control.

The knowledge and decisions made by users are easily stored electronically as user defined protocols. These electronic protocols can easily be loaded and executed by any authorized operator, either on individual ROIs, images or batches of images.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Focus directly on analysis of cells in tissue: Nuclei, Membrane, and Cytoplasm
  • Leading-edge algorithms for detection of all three compartments
  • Allows users to control detection through simple manual control of sensitivity (positive, negative, membrane), size (positive, negative, cytoplasm)
  • Create different levels of positivity
  • Easy definition of endpoints
  • Work in true stain-space
  • White-box system allows the user to translate biological knowledge into algorithms.
  • Freedom to create new end-point variables.
  • Possible to post-process to ”clean up” classification.
  • Computation can be de-centralized, i.e. the computational requirements are limited and the software can run even on laptops.
  • Possible to analyze at the exact magnification necessary to the application.
  • Low magnification analysis will enable automated ROI detection
