“Corneal disease is a leading cause of blindness worldwide and affects individuals of both genders and of all age groups.

The PathXL Sample Tracker system is supporting the collection of clinical data from hundreds of corneal transplant recipients at 5 leading centres across Europe for the VISICORT project.

In addition to clinical data entry, the system allows our front-line researchers to log and track thousands of biological specimens associated with this patient cohort. As the project evolves, our technology partners and bio-informaticians will be able to harness the system to link gene and protein expression profiles to prospectively acquired clinical data in a secure, anonymised electronic environment.

By having a central resource for the collection, management and archiving, as well as a centralised support centre offered by PathXL we can focus on the science.”
